A 1.20ct purple-pink Ceylon sapphire is set in a 14K recycled white gold cone-shaped bezel. Seven 1pt (.14tcw) G VS brilliant cut diamonds are hand pave set on either side of the half round band. The ring is rhodium plated to whiten the metal and is then given a soft matte finish. A variation on Laura's popular champagne diamond solitaire style, the pave setting on the shoulders of the ring give this modern style a little taste of vintage.

Pave is an antique stone setting technique that, when done properly, is a method of setting small diamonds or melee as close together as possible by pushing the gold up around the stone creating small prong-like beads as fasteners. The desired result is a paved diamond surface. Many companies that mass produce wedding bands and engagement rings claim to set pave, but the fastening beads are pre-made on wax ring models and are then pushed over the edges of the stone after casting. The results of these settings are the diamonds are further apart and will not have the individual characteristics or charm of hand set stones.
