Sue Freda
Susan Freda received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 1996 and her MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2009. Susan has an extensive background in glass and sculpture, and is well known for her “Dresses” sculptures. She is the recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award, and a de Young Museum Artist-in-Residence Award.
Susan’s work is inspired by the sculptures of Eva Hesse and painter Sigmar Polke. Minimalist influences, distinguished by mirth and jokiness and unmistakable whiff of eroticism, and nonmechanical repetition are all visible in the sculpture and jewelry of Susan Freda.
Susan currently lives in Pawtucket Rhode Island with her double pawed kitties Frank and Belle.
